Oh Snap!

Guess what I managed to do…

After I finished my exams today, I was playing football. Someone ran in front of me and, when I tried to avoid them, I flipped over myself and landed with my hand underneath me.

That’s where the snap comes in. I’ve only broken my finger. It’s all strapped up and ready to go though.

The other lucky person didn’t get hurt at all.

Mocktail Mania

I am a supervisor at a cocktail bar, and part of my job is to make sure that we are selling great drinks. I love to offer new things and non-alcoholic cocktails, or mocktails, are a brilliant seller. I’m going to share a few recipes with you. These are great for family parties, BBQs and various other occasions.

Minty Refresher

This is an alcohol free alternative to a Mojito and is a refreshing, summery drink. You will need lime wedges, mint leaves, lime cordial, lemonade and crushed ice.

Add four lime wedges and four mint leaves to a glass, with a dash of lime cordial. Muddle the ingredients well, allowing the flavours from the mint and lime to be released. Now put a handful of crushed ice into the glass and fill with lemonade.
Service with a straw and a mint garnish.

Virgin Sex on the Beach

Sex on the Beach is a firm favourite and this non-alcoholic alternative is just as pleasing. You will need orange juice, cranberry juice, lemonade and grenadine.

Half-fill your glass with equal amounts of orange and cranberry juice. Top up with lemonade and pour around a teaspoonful of grenadine on top. Garnish with an orange slice.

OP Crush

You will need orange juice, pineapple juice, grenadine, crushed ice and a lemon.

Pour equal amounts of orange and pineapple juice over crushed ice in the glass. Squeeze in a little fresh lemon juice and then pour over a teaspoonful of grenadine. Garnish with a lemon ring slice.

Southern Passion

You will need a cocktail shaker, ice, pineapple chunks, passionfruit syrup, pineapple juice, lime juice and ginger ale.

Muddle the pineapple chunks in the cocktail shaker to release the juice. Add ice, passionfruit syrup, pineapple juice and lime juice and shake well until cold. Now strain over ice into the glass and top up with ginger ale.

Minecraft: Torch Tricks

Here are a couple of tricks that you can do with torches on Minecraft that you might not have been aware of..

Break sand and gravel stacks

If you need to break a stack of gravel or sand, first you need to take out the bottom block. Then replace it quickly with a torch and the rest of the stack will fall down and break up.

Build on torches

Although blocks break when they fall on a torch, you can actually build on top or to the side of them. They act as a support strut and are treated as another block. However, they allow the player to pass through them.

Grab a breath under water

If you are mining and accidentally open the floodgates, or perhaps swim too deep, you can use a torch to create an air pocket. This will not last for long, but long enough for you to grab a quick breath. Get right up against the torch when you place it, or it won’t work.

Generally, torches can only be placed on solid, opaque blocks, but you can also place them on the following:
soul sand, packed ice, monster spawner, snow (must be at least 8 layers thick), on top of fences, glass, half slabs and cobblestone walls and on top of upside down stairs.

Dorky Shoes

Today, I went bowling. It wasn’t the best bowling experience; there seemed to be endless problems with the lane. First, our balls wouldn’t return, which lead to a blockage at the end of our lane and the one next to us. They fixed that problem, but then it stopped scoring. It would reset the pins in the right places, but it wasn’t registering anything on the scoreboard.

After a while, and a bit of complaining, they moved us to a different lane. Someone was told to give us a complementary drink, but it didn’t fix how crappy the place was. I managed to win some free sweets though, so I guess it wasn’t totally bad.

Next time, I think I’ll go bowling somewhere else.

Mon Voyage en France

Last month, I went to France on a school trip. We were there for a week and did loads of great activities.

We visited le mont Saint Michel, the D-Day beaches and a 360ยบ cinema. We also had French cooking lessons and went shopping at Evron Market. As well as this, we got to play loads of games at the chateau where we stayed and play football on the beach a few times.

We finished it off with a disco on our last night, before getting the ferry back over to England. It was a great holiday and I enjoyed it so much.
